Learn more about Sentinel Node

Sentinel Node

One of the most frequent ways to spread cancer to other organs is via the lymphatic system. The nodes can catch cancer cells that have left the tumor before surgery. Dissection or removal of lymph nodes is essential part of cancer surgery.

The first lymph node found by cancer cells in case of leaving the tumor is the “Sentinel Node”. Using injection with dyes we can locate and remove it, not being necessary to perform large dissections of lymph nodes, which allows a shorter surgery with fewer complications such as lymphedema and bleeding.
